Vonage, the company that made VoIP safe for Mayberry, will look more like a typical telecomm conglomerate by the end of the year.
The company plans to start selling wireless services in the second half of 2007, acting as virtual network operator (VNO). That means no bothersome infrastructure--Vonage just repackages service from real towers-and-all carriers.
It'll be a similar deal when Vonage gets into the broadband business this year, acting as a reseller for various fat-pipe carriers.
The goal--just as with your cable TV company and landline carrier--is to simplify you life with one (fat) bill for all telecomm services.
