Improving? Excuse me Stumbler, where do you live? I would like to come there because I travel throughout the US and I have seen problems in all areas getting worse...unemployment is up, more homes being repossessed, higher costs for everything and less trust in our government's ability to fix anything more complicated that a burnt out bulb. People whom I know voted for obama now deny it and many of those who still admit it are sorry for it. He is a "what's in it for me" lawyer who was only mediocre in that job and is proving to be a dismal failure at the one the American people entrusted to him. Ninety percent of the government employees I have spoken to do not trust him, even fewer are confident in his ability to manage anything larger than a 7-11 store.

This country will be better off when we get someone in there who understands the needs of the country and has a true vision of what we can do to make life better, and I don't give a fiddler's damn whether he/she is republican, democrat or independent; I don't care about the color of their skin but I do care that he/she is an American with America's interest at heart and some ability to see to the needs of his/her country.

 

So, you don't care if he is a black man born in Hawaii. A legitimate American president with American interests at heart.

I think you are wrong. There is a leader out there who can help bring this country together instead of being divisive. One person can not fix it, that is true, but a leader can help lead the people into action that will help, we made this mess, we can fix it with the right leadership.

Sorry to inform you that my family tree spreads pretty wide and, by the way, look up the term redneck, it simply defines a man who works for a living. Haven't been around for some time, it is nice to see people actually seem to care about what is happening in the US. Being a part of the DC Beltway segment I do find some of your comments very interesting. I have been employed by the government for three years now and I can tell you this, our president is no gift to this country; he is pompous, self absorbed and will have this country in financial ruin before his time is up. He is proof that education is wasted on some people.

 

I support the President and his agenda. Nevertheless, I think he moved too quickly on health care. His first priority should have been on reducing unemployment. His second goal should have been to end the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in ways that do not look like American defeats. If he achieves those goals, he will have the credibility to make lasting changes in the economic order. Franklin Roosevelt did not move on Social Security until the unemployment rate had declined by 4%.

 

I quite agree. Personally I believe his first priority should have been to wall away from the war, not commit more troops. Second, the employment situation then look at other issues. He has spent way too much money and effort trying to satisfy his personal agenda of doing what Bill Clinton failed to do.

 

That dog just won't hunt TJ. Unemployment would be much worse without the stimulus package. Likewise the unemployment rate is slowing down. That's important because it is the last economic indicator to make a turn around. The same is true for houses being repossessed. Its no where near as bad as it would have been without the actions of President Obama and congress.

And I don't know where you're buying your stuff but this article says the prices are decreasing not increasing.

In my mind... the question isn't "Would John McCain do better ?" but "would John McCain do worse ?" And well. Not that I am going to try to avoid the question, but I have to ask: Why should we have to choose between two people to make important decissions that effect our lives ? Why do we have to pick the person we believe will do less harm ? That's like the mafia turkey doctor asking you, "Hey, you want the hammer to the toes, or an ice-pick ?"
Point is: both are going to screw up. Why choose between them ? Less damage is still damage, why pick someone who is going to do any damage ?
